"I have been a loyal State Farm customer for approx 30 years. I am now in the process of switching insurance providers. In my opinion, Mr. Hoffman and his team, while very polite, did not provide me with acceptable customer service. State Farm’s premiums are usually higher than most other providers. I was content paying those premiums for years, because of the high level of customer service that my long time agent provided. I’m still paying high premiums, but the customer service has been in serious decline for the last 3-4 years. At first I noticed it with things like roadside assistance, not really agent customer service. It would take hours and hours for roadside assistance. Now the issue isn’t just with things like roadside assistance. State Farm is currently cancelling one of my policies ( that has a 3 year accident free discount), because they can’t legally cancel our “auto renew-policy” that has had claims filed against it. As my agent, Mr. Hoffman called me in January to say he would “file an appeal” and he felt like the appeal would be successful, given the policy was less than a year away from a 6 year accident free discount and the fact I had been a State Farm customer for so long. He said that policies were cancelled through an automated process and weren’t usually looked at by an actual employee unless there was an appeal filed. After more than 30 days I called Mr. Hoffmann’s office twice the same week to get a status update on the appeal. I was told it was “still in process”, by Mr. Hoffman’s staff. Finally on that Saturday, Mr. Hoffman called me and admittedly had not even filed the appeal, noted my account , or even really remembered our 30+ minute conversation about the appeal. He then supposedly filed an appeal that same Saturday and I received a call from his office Monday morning (48 hours later) saying the appeal was denied. Per Mr. Hoffman I’m not permitted to see the appeal or the denial. His staff member told me that my appeal was still being processed, when in fact at that point, Mr. Hoffman had never filed the appeal. That was my personal experience with John Hoffman State Farm. I expect much more from an insurance agent that profits from my premiums."
